Ingredients

  • 1 cup - basmati rice
  • 1 tsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - cumin
  • 1 tsp - garam masala
  • 1 tsp - black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp - ghee
  • Oil
  • 1/2 cup - vegetables (mixture of peas, beans, carrot, capsicum, cabbage)
  • 1/2 tsp - kasoori methi
  • 1 - onion, chopped finely

How to Make Old-fashioned Vegetable Pulao

  • Wash and soak basmati rice in water for 10 mins.
  • Heat oil and add cumin.
  • When it splutters, add onion and saute till transparent.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and fry till fragrant.
  • Add chopped vegetables and saute.
  • Add salt, pepper powder, garam masala and saute till it emanates an aroma.
  • In a microwave-safe dish, mix the sauteed vegetables with the soaked rice.
  • Add ghee and water and microwave on high for 15 mins.
  • Serve hot with onion raitha and chips.
