Ingredients

  • 2 -onions
  • 2- brinjals
  • salt
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 cup - dal
  • 1 tsp - coriander
  • 2 - red chillies
  • 1/2 - coconut, grated
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 1 tsp -mustard seed
  • 1 tsp -asafoetida
  • curry leaves

How to Make Onion and Brinjal with Lentil dal

  • Cut onion and brinjal into small cubes, wash and keep aside.
  • Wash dal, cook it with salt and turmeric powder.
  • Now add brinjal and onion into the dal.
  • When dal is cooked, keep it aside.
  • Roast whole coriander, red chillies, coconut and grind them together.
  • Add ground spices into cooked dal and vegetables.
  • For tempering, heat oil in a pan add mustard seed, asafoetida (hing) and curry leaves.
  • Fry it for 5 mins and pour it evenly over cooked dal.
  • Serve hot with plain rice or chapatti.
