Ingredients

  • 2 - onions
  • 2 - tomatoes
  • 9 - garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp - pepper
  • 3 to 4 - green chillies
  • 2 - red chillies
  • Curry leaves, a few
  • 1 cup - coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp - urad dal
  • Tamarind - one small lemon - sized ball
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to fry

How to Make Onion Garlic Chutney with Pepper

  • Chop onion and tomato finely. Heat oil and temper urad dal. Then fry the onion till it turns a little brown.
  • Add garlic, pepper, green chillies and red chillies. Mix well.
  • Add tomato and fry for 3 minutes.
  • Add tamarind, curry leaves and coriander leaves.
  • Add salt and fry well for another 2 minutes.
  • Cool and grind the mixture into a fine paste.
  • Heat a little oil and fry the mixture for 2 minutes.
  • It is ready to serve with dosas, chapattis or plain hot rice.
