  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • 170 gms - cocoa
  • 100 gms - sugar
  • 4 - eggs
  • 1/2 cup - milk
  • 1/2 cup - chopped walnuts
  • For the icing:
  • 1/2 tin - sweetened condensed milk
  • 100 gms - butter
  • 60 gms - cocoa, sieved
  • 1/2 cup - orange peel
  • 2-4 drops - orange essence

How to Make Orange Flavoured Brownies

  • Preheat the oven at 160 degrees for 15 mins.
  • Grease a baking tray and dust it with a little flour (maida) and set aside. Combine flour, cocoa and baking powder. Sieve together.
  • In a deep bowl, combine butter and sugar. Beat until light and creamy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating the mixture well each time you add the eggs.
  • Mix gradually, until the sieved mixture, sweetened condensed milk and milk are over.
  • Add the chopped walnuts and mix well. Pour mixture into a greased tray.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 160 degrees C for approx. 25 mins or until done. Remove from oven and leave to cool in a tray.
  • For the icing:
  • Melt the butter, add cocoa powder and cook over low flame for 1 minute. Remove from heat and mix in the sweetened condensed milk, the orange peel and orange essence.
  • Stir and mix very well. Pour the icing over the cake and leave to set.
  • When set, cut into squares.
