Ingredients

  • 250 g - all purpose flour
  • 290 g - granulated sugar
  • 170 g - dark brown sugar
  • 110 g - cocoa powder
  • 2 1.5 tsp - baking soda
  • 1 1.5 tsp - salt
  • 550 g - buttermilk
  • 230 g - butter (room temperature)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1.5 tsp - vanilla
  • 1 ground orange zest
  • 2 tsp - ground cinnamon
  • 1.5 tsp - ground clove
  • 1 tbsp - ground ginger
  • 170 g - melted chocolate

How to Make Orange Ginger Spiced Cake

  • Pre-heat oven at 180 degree C.
  • Butter the parchment, line a rectangle-shaped baking tray (20cm x 10cm).
  • Whisk buttermilk and eggs together.
  • Place all other ingredients (except the chocolate) in an electric mixer bowl.
  • Blend for 45 seconds on low speed.
  • Add melted chocolate and mix for 3 mins.
  • Place in the baking tray and cook for 40 mins until a knife inserted into centre comes out clean.
