Panchamrut is a tasty Indian chutney or condiment that is a perfect accompaniment to your starter dishes or other main courses. 

It is a spicy-sweet paste made with a blend of authentic ingredients - dry coconut, roasted groundnuts, tamarind, coconut milk, green chillies and few more mentioned in the recipe. Heat the coconut milk gently, add the ground paste, chillies, garam masala, salt and the mixture is cooked till it turns out to be a thick chutney. 

Garnish with sliced cashews, raisins and coconut for some extra kick.

Ingredients

  • ½ dry coconut
  • 25 gms. roasted groundnuts
  • 1 lime sized ball of tamarind
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 6 thick green chillies, sliced
  • 1 tsp. garam masala
  • 3 tbsp. grated jaggery
  • 2 tbsp. each of sliced cashewnuts and raisins
  • 25 gms. cashewnuts
  • 2 tbsp. sliced coconut
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Panchamrut Chutney

  • Dry roast the dry coconut to a red colour and grind to a paste along with tamarind, groundnuts and 25 gms. cashewnuts.
  • Heat coconut milk, add chillies and ground paste, salt and garam masala and cook till it turns thick.
  • Decorate with sliced cashewnuts, raisins and coconut.
