  • Black Urad Dal - 1 cup
  • Channa Dal - 1 cup
  • Toor Dal - 1 cup
  • Rice - 1 cup
  • Red Chillies - 4 (large)
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt
  • Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tsp

How to Make Paruppu Adai

  • Soak dal and rice together for 3-4 hours.
  • Grind dal, rice and red chillies coarsely without making it too watery.
  • Add salt and asafoetida powder to the batter and mix well.
  • Garnish the batter with chopped curry leaves.
  • Heat a frying pan, add a few drops of oil and rub with a piece of paper or cloth.
  • Pour batter on the frying pan and spread it to form a circle.
  • Pour a little oil on the sides of the batter.
  • Roast the adai on both sides on a low flame till golden brown.
  • Serve with chutney, sambar or butter.
