  • 250 gm parvals
  • 2 big potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 tsp. cumin seeds
  • 1 inch piece ginger
  • ½ tsp. turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. garam masala
  • 1 big tomato, blanched and sliced
  • 2 tbsps. curd
  • 1 tbsp. pure ghee
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and chilli powder to taste

How to Make Parval Dalna

  • Grind ginger and cumin seeds to a paste. Peel the parvals and cut into halves lengthwise.
  • Heat 3 tbsps. oil and put in bay leaves and vegetables and fry to a nice brown colour.
  • Put in all the above ingredients with the exception of garam masala and ghee and cook till dry. Pour in 2 cups water and cook till dry.
  • Pour in 2 cups water and cook till the vegetables are soft and gravy is a little thick.
  • Remove from fire and mix in garam masala and pure ghee and serve hot.
