Ingredients

  • potatoes - 1/2 kg
  • shelled green peas - 2 cup
  • coriander leaves - 1/2 cup
  • onion - 1/2 cup, chopped
  • ginger - 3 cm
  • garlic - 6 flakes
  • green chillies - 3
  • chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam Masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Oil or Ghee - 3 tbsp
  • Bay leaf 1
  • salt to taste
  • dry mango powder (Aamchoor) - 1 tsp

How to Make Peas and Potato Salan

  • Peel and cut potatoes into 4 cm cubes.
  • Grind the green peas to a paste.
  • Grind onion, ginger, garlic and green chillies together.
  • Mix chilli powder, turmeric powder and Garam Masala powder together with little water to a thick paste.
  • Heat oil or Ghee. Add bay leaf. Add onion paste and fry till fragrant.
  • Add the red paste and fry for 1 minute. Add the ground peas and fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add about 4 cups of water, potatoes and salt. Cover and simmer till the potatoes are cooked.
  • Sprinkle mango powder on top. Mix well and remove from fire.
