Ingredients

  • 1 cup - boiled rice
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh coconut
  • 1/4 tbsp coriander finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp each cumin seed, mustard seeds, urad dal
  • 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 2-3 pinches asafoetida
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1 stalk curry leaves
  • 1 onion - Finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Juice of half lemon
  • 1 tbsp oil

How to Make Plain Lime Rice

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add the seeds and dal.
  • Allow them to splutter.
  • Add green chillies, curry leaves, onions, asafetida.
  • Cook till onions are light pink.
  • Finally add rice, turmeric, salt, lemon, coriander, coconut.
  • Mix well.
  • Cover and simmer till steaming hot.
  • Serve hot.
