  • 2 cups - sooji or semolina
  • 1 cup - wheat flour
  • salt
  • 5 tsps - oil
  • whole black pepper corns
  • oil for frying

How to Make Plain Mathri

  • Combine all ingredients except the oil for frying and knead into a stiff dough.
  • Make small balls out of the dough and roll into small round pooris.
  • Now, before frying, pierce each mathri with a fork several times. This is so that it does not fluff up when fried.
  • Heat oil for frying and fry each mathri. Enjoy with pickle.
