Ingredients

  • Vegetables:
  • 1 packet - frozen spinach or 3 bunches of fresh dill
  • 2 cups - beans, chopped
  • 3 - carrots, cut into thin, 1" pieces
  • 3 - peeled and chopped potatoes
  • 2 cups - fresh coconut pieces
  • 2 - jalapenos
  • 5 -6 - mint leaves (optional)
  • 2 - medium-sized onions, chopped
  • 3 tsp - channa dal
  • 4 - pepper corns
  • 3 - cloves
  • 1" piece - cinnamon
  • 1" piece - ginger

How to Make Plain Sagu

  • Fry the onions till brown.
  • Fry jalapenos, mint leaves, pepper corns, cloves, cinnamon and ginger.
  • Fry channa dal till brown.
  • Grind all the above with coconut, very finely.
  • Boil all the vegetables with a little salt.
  • Mix the finely ground mixture with the vegetables and add salt.
  • Boil for 15 minutes.
  • Serve hot with puris or chapatti.
