  • 1 cup of Semolina (suji)
  • small quantity of gram flour (besan/optional)
  • 1-1.5 cups - ghee
  • 2 cups of sugar (approx. double the amount of suji)
  • 4 cups of water
  • Coconut powder for flavour
  • Cardamom powder
  • Musk melon seeds (khurbuja ke beej)
  • Mixture of chopped cashew nuts, almonds
  • 2-3 threads of saffron(kesar)

How to Make Plain Suji Ka Halwa

  • Mix semolina (suji) and desi ghee in a heavy pan. Stir it continuously on medium flame.
  • When the mixture becomes light brown in colour, add gram flour.
  • Stir it until the mixture becomes golden brown in colour.
  • Add water and sugar. Stir it continuously on high flame.
  • Turn off the gas when the mixture gets its desired consistency.
  • Add musk melon seeds and threads of saffron in it.
  • Serve it hot.
  • Garnish it with coconut powder, cardamom powder and with dry fruit mixture.
