Ingredients

  • 2 cups - split urad dal
  • 2 tsp - grated ginger
  • 3 - green chillies (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • Less than a pinch - asafoetida
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp - vegetable oil

How to Make Plain Sukhi Urad Dal

  • Soak urad dal for about 2 hours. Cook the dal in a microwave for about 9 minutes by covering the dish with a plate.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
  • After it starts spluttering, add asafoetida, coriander and turmeric powder. Stir for about a minute.
  • Add ginger, chillies and the dal.
  • Stir for 5 mins and turn off flame.
