  • 1 cup - rice
  • 1 cup - urad dal
  • 1/2 cup - finely ground jaggery
  • 1 tsp - cardamom powder
  • 1/4 tsp - finely ground nutmeg

How to Make Plain Sweet Idly

  • Soak jaggery in 1 cup of water till it dissolves, then strain.
  • Now soak rice and dal separately in water for about 6 hours.
  • Drain out the water grind separately to a paste.
  • Mix with jaggery and cover and set in a hot place for 1 hour. Then steam.
  • Serve with hot ghee poured over the top.
