  • 1 - pomfret, whole.
  • 1/2 cup - lime juice/vinegar.
  • 4 tbsps - fresh ginger paste.
  • 4 tbsps - fresh garlic paste.
  • 2 tbsps - red chilli.
  • 4 - cloves.
  • 4 - cardamom.
  • 1/2 tbsp - turmeric powder.
  • Salt to taste.
  • oil.

How to Make Pomfret Rachead

  • Grind the cloves and cardamoms into a powder and lightly roast it in a pan.
  • Mix the ginger and garlic paste with lime juice or vinegar thoroughly.
  • Maintain a thick consistency.
  • Mix in the chilli, haldi and salt and the roasted powder.
  • Clean the fish and slice it creating a cavity.
  • Stuff the paste into the cavity and rub the remaining paste all over the fish.
  • Let it marinate for 10 mins.
  • Gently lower the fish into a heated pan with oil and shallow fry till tender.
  • Serve hot with the paav and wine (optional).
