  • 1 cup - Ash gourd (white pumpkin) chopped
  • 3 tbsp - Onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup - Curd
  • To temper:
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Urad Dhal
  • Curry leaves few
  • 1 Green Chilli slit
  • Hing(Perungayam) a pinch
  • 1 tsp - Oil

How to Make Poosanikai Thayir Pachadi

  • Cut the pumpkin , discard the seeds and scrape off the skin.
  • Chop it into cubes and set aside.
  • Heat water in a pan and add the pumpkin with onions and cook till soft and transparent. Set aside.
  • Heat a pan. Add items under 'temper', splutter and set aside.
  • Add the tempered items to cooked pumpkin with required salt.
  • Cool down completely and add curd and give a quick stir.
  • Serve with rotis or rice.
