A highly appetizing side dish made with the tasty duo - potato and mutton - Potato Mutton Chops. 

The marinated lamb chops are pressure cooked so that the meat becomes soft and tender. The tasty meat is dipped in a fine mix of egg, potatoes, flour and coated with breadcrumbs for the right crispiness.  

Shallow fry the chops evenly and serve hot by pouring the prepared tangy sauce all over the finger-licking dish.

  • 12 lamb chops
  • For marinating:
  • 2 tbsp. Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. ginger, garlic & green chillies paste
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • For the sauce:
  • 6 tomatoes
  • 1 onion
  • A few sprigs parsley
  • 1 tsp. flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • For coating:
  • ½ kg. potatoes
  • 12 cup flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 eggs
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • oil as required

How to Make Potato Mutton Chops

  • Clean and marinate chops in vinegar and green masala. Place on greased baking tray and bake in moderate oven for 10 minutes.
  • Allow to cool. Alternatively, cook the chops in a pressure cooker and remove from liquid.
  • Sauce: Mince onions, tomatoes and parsley. Heat oil, and fry onions till golden.
  • Add remaining ingredients and fry. Add ½ cup water and simmer till thick, pass through sieve and keep aside.
  • Coating: Beat eggs and keep aside. Boil, peel and mash potatoes.
  • Add salt to taste. Mix with flour, knead, roll and cut into suitable portions and cover the chops evenly. Dip in egg and coat with breadcrumbs.
  • Shallow fry in hot oil on a slow fire, till well browned. Arrange on a serving plate. Pour sauce over chops and serve hot, or serve sauce separately.
