  • Cooked rice - 1 cup.
  • Jaggery - 1 cup.
  • Coconut Milk - 1 cup.
  • Coconut (grated) - 1 cup.
  • Water - 1/2 cup.
  • Coconut Pieces cut into small pieces - 1/2 cup.
  • ghee - 1/4 cup.
  • Dry Ginger Powder - 1 tsp.

How to Make Pradhaman

  • Mash the cooked rice with the back of a slotted ladle.
  • In a heavy pan, add jaggery and water. Add the rice and cook on a low flame till the jaggery dissolves.
  • Grind the coconut to a fine paste and add to the rice mixture with constant stirring.
  • When the mixture begins to boil, add the coconut milk, cover it for 5 -10 mins and remove from fire.
  • The mixture should not boil after adding the coconut milk.
  • In a different pan, fry the coconut pieces till golden brown in ghee.
  • Take off from heat and add the ginger powder to the roasted pieces.
  • Pour this in to the pradhaman.
