Ingredients

  • tamarind - 3 cm round lump
  • oil - 4 tbsp
  • mustard - 1 tsp
  • onion - 1 cup, finely chopped
  • curry leaves few
  • shelled, cleaned prawns - 500 gm
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • chilli powder - 2 tsp or to taste
  • pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • shelled and cleaned prawns - 500 gm
  • salt to taste
  • grated coconut - 1 cup

How to Make Prawn Coconut Fry

  • Soak tamarind in one and a half cup hot water and extract the pulp.
  • Heat the oil. Add mustard. When they crackle add onion and curry leaves. Fry till onions are brown.
  • Add prawn, salt and turmeric. Fry till prawns are cooked. Add chilli and pepper powder.
  • After 30 seconds add tamarind pulp. Simmer for 5 minutes. Add coconut and simmer till almost dry.
  • Serve with steamed rice or Chapatti.
