Ingredients

  • 3 cups - cooked rice
  • 3-4 - tomatoes, chopped into small pieces
  • 1/4 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Urad dal
  • 1/4 tsp - Channa Dal
  • 1 - dried red chilli
  • 1 tsp - Ginger- garlic paste (optional)
  • Salt
  • Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - Garam masala

How to Make Quick Masala Rice

  • In a large pan, heat some oil.
  • When the oil is hot, cook the cumin, mustard, urad dal, channa dal and red chilli until they start sputtering.
  • Add the ginger-garlic paste, the chopped tomatoes, garam masala powder and turmeric powder.
  • Cover and cook for about 3 minutes.
  • Now add the cooked rice and some salt and mix it so that the tomato base coats the rice fully.
  • The tomato mixture should not be too watery otherwise the rice will become soggy.
  • If you have some cilantro, chop and add for extra taste.
