  • 2 cups - moong dal
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1.5 tsp mango powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • 3 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Ghee as required

How to Make Rajasthani mogar

  • Soak the dal for 1/2 an hour.
  • Heat a kerahi and add 1 tbsp - ghee.
  • Fry cumin seeds, a pinch of asafoetida, turmeric, chilli and coriander powders, sesame seeds and bay leaf.
  • Cook till just brown.
  • Add the soaked, drained dal and add double the amount of water.
  • When the dal is cooked and water is dried, add mango powder, sugar and garam masala and salt.
  • Add one cup of water and let the mixture cook evenly.
