  • 2 - raw plantains
  • For Masala:
  • 1 tbsp - channa dal
  • 1/2 tbsp - urad dal
  • 1/2 tbsp - dhaniya
  • 1 tsp - coconut
  • (roast each and make a powder)
  • For Seasoning:
  • 1 tbsp -oil
  • Some urad dal
  • Mustard and jeera
  • Curry leaves
  • 1/4 tbsp - tamarind pulp
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tbsp - oil

How to Make Raw Plantain (Aratikaaya) Curry

  • Peel plantain and cut into small cubes. Take that in a vessel, add some water (1/2 cup), salt and turmeric and pressure cook until 3 whistles.
  • Put seasoning in kadai with urad dal, mustard and jeera. Add cut green chillies and curry leaves, if you have them.
  • Now add cooked plantain along with water.
  • Let it simmer on the stove for 2 min until water evaporates.
  • Add the ground powder and some tamarind pulp. After a minute switch off the stove.
