Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup - tur dal
  • 1/4 cup - channa dal
  • 1/4 cup - arhar dal
  • 1/4 cup - urad dal
  • 1/4 cup - channa
  • 3 - red chillies
  • 1 tsp - black pepper
  • 1 tsp - jeera
  • 1 tsp - dhania
  • 3 - tomatoes
  • 2 pieces - garlic
  • 1 tsp - haldi
  • salt

How to Make Rustic dal

  • Soak all the dals together overnight. Then cook them well.
  • In a blender, grind together 2 tomatoes, jeera, black pepper, dhania, garlic, haldi and 2 red chillies.
  • Now in a heavy bottomed pan, pour some oil, add 1 red chilli and the diced tomato and roast it for half a minute.
  • Then add the masala paste and roast that too, till the raw smell is gone.
  • Now add the dal and salt to taste, let it blend together well.
