Ingredients

  • 1 kg - chicken, cut into 8 pieces
  • 2 tbsps - oil
  • 2 - large onions, chopped
  • 4 - green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seed
  • 4-5 - curry leaves
  • 500 g - sali (potato straws)
  • Grind to a paste:
  • 6 cloves - garlic
  • 1/2 inch piece - ginger
  • 1 inch - cinnamon
  • 1 tsp - garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • Salt as per taste

How to Make Sali Ma Marghi

  • Heat the oil, add cumin seeds and curry leaves. When they splutter, add the onions and cook until golden in colour.
  • Add the ground paste and stir for another a minute.
  • Mix in the chicken, green chillies and salt and cook, stirring, until dry.
  • Add 3 cups of water and bring to a boil.
  • Simmer, stirring occasionally until a thick gravy is left.
  • Place the chicken gravy in a dish and sprinkle the sali over it
