Ingredients

  • 2 cups - vermicelli
  • 1 cup - green gram dal
  • 3 cups - sugar
  • 1/2 cup - ghee
  • 4 - cardamoms
  • few cashews and raisins

How to Make Semiya pongal

  • Fry cashewnuts and raisins in ghee and keep it aside.
  • In the same pan, fry semiya and put it aside.
  • Fry green gram dal using little ghee. Then add water and cook it. Keep it aside.
  • Boil 4 cups of water, add semiya to it and cook.
  • Add sugar, cooked green gram dal, remaining ghee and cook for 5 mins on medium heat.
  • Remove from the stove, add fried cashews, raisins and crushed cardamoms.
