Shahi Tukra is a famous royal dessert of Hydrebad. The creamy milk poured all over the bread pieces makes it rich and sugary. The sprinkled almonds, cardamoms,saffron and rose water gives an everlasting taste.

  • 2 litres milk
  • 10 slices white bread
  • 10 gms. almonds
  • 1 tsp. cardamom seeds
  • 1 tsp. rose water
  • 1 tsp. saffron powder
  • 250 gms. vegetable oil
  • 200 gms. sugar

How to Make Shahi Tukra

  • Remove the curst from the bread and pan fry in the oil until brown.
  • Heat the milk and reduce until 3/4th is left.
  • Add the sugar.
  • Arrange the fried bread in a dish and pour over the milk.
  • Sprinkle the chopped almonds, cardamoms, saffron and rose water.
  • Pop in hot oven for a few minutes until bread has absorbed milk and the top begins to brown.
  • Serve immediately.
