  • 1 kg - Potatoes
  • Oil to deep fry
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Simple French Fries

  • Peel and cut potatoes into long fingers, 1/2 inch square across.
  • Put it in chilled water for 10 minutes.
  • Drain and dab on clean kitchen towel.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan till it becomes smoky.
  • Add some fingers one at a time.
  • Allow it to fry till just a tinge of golden appears.
  • Drain and keep it aside.
  • Just before serving, fry it on hot oil.
  • Fry further till they turn golden and crispy.
  • Drain and remove excess oil.
  • Add salt and toss.
  • Serve hot and crisp with tomato ketchup.
