Ingredients

  • 1 cup - grated coconut (fresh or dry)
  • 5 - red chillies
  • 10 cloves - garlic
  • 1/2 tbsp - jeera
  • 5 tbsp - toor dal
  • 2 - fresh tomatoes
  • 1/2 tbsp - tamarind paste
  • 5 tbsp - cooking oil
  • salt

How to Make Simple Garlic Chutney

  • Heat oil in a small pan.
  • Roast garlic, jeera, red chillies, toor dal one at a time.
  • Cut tomatoes into small pieces and cook for 2 minutes in the above pan after roasting all the ingredients.
  • Mix coconut, roasted stuff, tomatoes, tamarind and salt in a blender with small amount of water so that chutney can be a fine thick blend.
  • Enjoy with yogurt rice, chapati, dosa and idli.
