Ingredients

  • Sago - 2 cups
  • Mashed potato - 2 cups
  • Coarsely powdered peanuts - 1.5 cups
  • Rice flour - 1 tbsp
  • Sesame seeds - 2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chillies - 4
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to fry

How to Make Simple Sago Murukku

  • Soak sago for half an hour. Drain and keep aside.
  • Grind the chillies with cumin seeds, turmeric powder and asafoetida. Add mashed potatoes and peanuts, remove.
  • Add rice flour, sago, salt and sesame seeds.
  • Knead dough well.
  • Place dough in a 'murukku achu' and press out in rounds into hot oil. Fry till golden brown and crisp.
  • Serve hot.
