  • 2 cups snake gourd, diced
  • 2 cups of curd
  • 0.5 cup dry coconut (copra), grated
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard
  • 1/4 tsp fenugreek
  • 6 to 8 dry red chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • For seasoning: 1 tbsp ghee or oil
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 2 tsps black gram dal
  • Coriander leaves to garnish

How to Make Snake gourd yogurt curry

  • Add about 3/4 cup water to snake gourd and cook with salt and turmeric.
  • Heat the oil and roast mustard, fenugreek and red chillies.
  • Add copra and roast till it is light brown.
  • Grind all these together and add to the gourd.
  • Simmer for two minutes and remove from fire.
  • Beat the curd till smooth and add to the curry.
  • Heat the oil for seasoning in a small fry pan. Add mustard.
  • When it splutters add the dal.
  • When it turns brown, remove from fire and add to the curry.
  • Mix well and stir in the coriander leaves.
  • Serve as an accompaniment for lunch.
