  • 1/4 kg - tomato
  • 1/4 kg - small onion
  • 1/4 kg - potato
  • 8 - green chillies
  • Turmeric powder, a pinch
  • salt to taste
  • For Grinding:
  • 3/4 cup - grated coconut
  • For Seasoning:
  • 2 tsp - ghee
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves, a few

How to Make Sodhi

  • Peel the onion skin and cut each onions to 2 or 3 pieces.
  • Cook the potatoes and peel the skin and mash them.
  • Finely chop the tomatoes and green chillies.
  • Grind the coconut to a fine paste.
  • Heat ghee in a pan, add the mustard seeds.
  • When the mustard seeds sputter, add the curry leaves, chopped onions and green chillies and fry till the onion becomes transparent.
  • Add the tomatoes and let it fry for some time.
  • Now add the potatoes, a pinch of turmeric and salt.
  • When the mixture starts boiling, add the ground coconut and let it boil for a minute.
  • Sodhi is now ready to serve with plain rice.
