Ingredients

  • 1 cup - besan (gram flour)
  • 2 cups - ghee
  • 2 cups - sugar
  • 2 cups - water

How to Make South Indian Mysore Pak

  • Separate the ghee into two equal parts.
  • Mix the besan with 1 part of ghee.
  • The mixture should be without lumps.
  • Keep the remaining 1 part of ghee aside.
  • Grease a plate and keep aside.
  • Pour water in a pan and add sugar to it.
  • Keep stirring till the syrup reaches 1-string consistency.
  • Then slowly add the besan and ghee mixture to this syrup.
  • Keep stirring.
  • Let it cook over medium flame.
  • Keep adding the remaining part of ghee to this mixture in small quantities.
  • Do not stop stirring.
  • The mixture will start to leave the sides of the pan.
  • Also the mixture will start turning red at the base.
  • All this takes 10-15 mins.
  • At this point, pour it into the greased plate and let it cool.
  • Cut it into parts and serve.
