Ingredients

  • 2 cups - Cabbage, chopped
  • 1 - Green chillies, slit lengthwise
  • 2 tsp - Mustard seeds
  • 1.5 tsp - Urad dal
  • 1/2 tsp - Jeera/Cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp - Oil
  • 1/2-inch cube - Jaggery
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 sprig - Curry leaves
  • 1/2 cup - Water
  • Salt to taste

How to Make South Indian style Cabbage Sabzi- Cabbage Palya

  • In a pan add oil and when hot add mustard seeds, jeera, urad dal and as they splutter add green chillies.
  • Once urad dal changes colour to golden brown, add the chopped cabbage and mix well.
  • Now add jaggery, turmeric powder, salt to taste and water and cover and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  • Cook till all water is evaporated and cabbage is cooked.
  • Once done, add curry leaves and give a mix.
