  • 450 gms - Spaghetti
  • 100 gms - Onions
  • 2 flakes
  • For the meatballs:
  • 450 gms - Lean meat
  • 100 gms - White bread
  • 450 gms - Tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp - Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp - Parsley (chopped)
  • 85 gms - Cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Spaghetti with Meatballs

  • Soak bread in water.
  • Squeeze dry and mash with fork.
  • Add finely chopped onions, chopped parsley, minced meat, grated cheese and seasoning.
  • Beat eggs lightly and combine with mixture.
  • Shape into small balls and fry in hot oil.
  • Drain on absorbent paper and set aside.
  • To make the sauce:
  • Heat oil in a heavy pan. Add chopped onions and crushed garlic and cook till golden.
  • Add blanched and pipped tomatoes, sugar, thyme, salt and pepper. Lower heat.
  • Cover and cook slowly for one hour.
  • Add meat balls and cook gently for another 3 mins.
  • Boil spaghetti in boiling salted water.
  • Drain and dish into a hot plate.
  • Pour sauce with meat balls over spaghetti.
  • Serve a bowl of grated cheese separately.
