  • For the pastry:
  • 225 g plain flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • 100g - butter cut in cubes
  • 1 - egg beaten
  • 1-2 tsp - icing sugar
  • For the filling:
  • 100g - butter melted
  • 450g - cooking apples
  • 75g - sugar
  • 75g - raisins
  • 1 tsp - ground mixed spices

How to Make Spicy Apple Roll

  • Sift the flour and salt in a bowl.
  • Add butter cubes and rub until the mixture resembles fine bread crumbs.
  • Add the beaten egg and mix into smooth dough.
  • Chill this in fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Pre heat oven to 230 degrees C.
  • Roll out the pastry to a desired shape (rectangle or square).
  • Brush it with melted butter.
  • Mix the remaining ingredients together and sprinkle over the pastry.
  • Roll up and brush it with melted butter.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, reduce heat and bake for another 15 minutes. Cool.
  • Before serving, add icing sugar.
