Ingredients

  • 2 cups - tur dal
  • 1 big - onions
  • 1-2 - tomatoes
  • 1 - golf ball size, tamarind
  • 1 tsp - ginger and garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - turmeric
  • 1 tsp -red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp - jeera
  • curry leaves
  • oil
  • salt

How to Make Spicy Masala Dal

  • Boil tuvar dal and smash it well. | In a kadai, take 1 tbsp oil and add curry leaves and jeera. Add onion and mustard seeds. Fry the onion till brown.
  • Add ginger and garlic paste. Fry for 1 minute.
  • Add tomatoes. Fry till oil separates.
  • Add turmeric and red chilli powder. Stir it well for 2 minutes.
  • Add tamarind. Stir well.
  • Add the smashed tuvar dal to the above mixture.
  • Add salt to taste. Add water as per your requirement. Boil for 5 minutes.
