  • 2 cups - puffed rice/pori
  • 1 tsp - oil
  • Peanuts, a fistful
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1 - dry red chilli
  • Curry leaves, a fistful
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 5 big ones - garlic cloves
  • Salt - as per taste

How to Make Spicy Puffed Rice

  • In a wide bottomed pan, heat oil. Add mustard seeds, let it splutter.
  • Add peanuts and fry on low flame for a 2-3 mins.
  • Add red chilli, turmeric, red chilli powder, curry leaves, garlic pods all in one go and fry for some time, till garlic turns light brown and groundnuts become crisp.
  • Add puffed rice, salt and mix well till the puffed rice is mixed well with spices and becomes crispy.
  • Allow it to cool and store in airtight container.
