Ingredients

  • Spinach - 1 bunch
  • Moong dal - 3/4 cup
  • Green chillies - 12
  • Onion - 2 medium sized
  • Tomato - 2 medium sized
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Curry Leaves (optional)
  • Oil - 3 - 4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Lime juice to taste
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch

How to Make Spinach Dal with Tomatoes

  • Split green chillies into two and chop onions and tomatoes.
  • Cook moong dal, chillies, spinach, onions and tomato in a pressure cooker with a pinch of turmeric powder and 2 tbsps of oil.
  • Heat an oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, urad dal and curry leaves. Then add the cooked dal and vegetables.
  • Heat it for a while and add salt and lemon juice according to your taste.
  • This goes well with rice and chapattis.
