  • 2- star fruit
  • 1 cup- plain flour
  • 1/2 cup -semolina
  • 1/2 cup -sugar powdered
  • 2 tbsp - soft brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup- curd
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 50-60 ml - club soda

How to Make Star fruit Steamed Cake

  • Slice horizontally, into slices and deseed one star fruit.
  • Chop other fruit into small pieces.
  • Arrange at the bottom of an 8 inch baking cake tin.
  • Sprinkle soft brown sugar all over, to cover fruit, keep aside.
  • Sift all dry ingredients together 2-3 times.
  • Put all other ingredients except star fruit in a mixing bowl.
  • Beat well, add in dry ingredients and mix well.
  • Fold in chopped star fruit.
  • Immediately transfer batter to prepared cake tin.
  • Meanwhile, place a very large deep vessel to heat.
  • Pour 3-4 inches deep hot water and boil.
  • Place a stand which will stand about 5 inches above water level.
  • Place prepared cake tin inside, allowing to heat.
  • Cover steamer so that no steam escapes.
  • Place a weight on lid.
  • Steam cake for 10-12 mins, or till an inserted knife comes out clean.
  • Remove, invert over serving dish and serve warm with tea or coffee.
