Ingredients

  • 2 cups - Mixed dals (channa dal, masoor dal, toor dal soaked for 2hours)
  • 1 - Onion (big and chopped)
  • 2 - Green chillies (chopped)
  • 1 tsp - Ginger (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp - Fennel seeds (crushed)
  • Few curry leaves
  • Few coriander leaves (chopped)
  • Salt
  • Oil for greasing

How to Make Steamed Zero Oil Mixed Dals Masala Vadas

  • Drain the excess water from the dals and grind the dals coarsely without adding water. (If it is too dry to grind just sprinkle few drops of water).
  • Add the chopped onions, chopped green chillies, ginger pieces, chopped curry leaves, coriander leaves, crushed fennel seeds and salt to the ground batter and mix everything well.
  • Make small balls with the palms and flatten them.
  • Arrange the flattened vadas over the idly plates lined with parchment paper.
  • Steam cook for 10-15 minutes in an idly cooker and enjoy warm with ketchup or chutneys.
