Ingredients

  • 1 cup - rice
  • 1 cup - urad dal
  • a pinch of cooking soda
  • 1 big pinch of salt
  • For stuffing:
  • 1 cup - sugar
  • 1/2 - small finely ground coconut
  • 25 - each of finely sliced cashewnut, almonds and raisins
  • 1 tsp - cardamom powder
  • 1/4 tsp - ground nutmeg

How to Make Stuffed Idly

  • Soak the rice and dal separately for about 6 hours.
  • Drain out the water nicely, grind them separately and mix them together.
  • Cover and set aside in a hot place for 3 hours.
  • Mix salt and soda. Melt the sugar over a slow fire till red.
  • Mix the rest of the filling ingredients and keep aside.
  • Grease katories nicely, spread coconut mixture on top and cover more and steam.
