  • 1 cup - sundakkai (slit into two halves)
  • 1/2 tbsp - urad dhal
  • 1 tbsp - coconut
  • 3 -red chilli or adjust to your taste
  • 1/2 tsp - tamarind paste
  • 1/2 tsp - asafoetida
  • 4 tsp - oil
  • Salt

How to Make Sundakkai (Turkey Berry) Thuvayal

  • In a pan, add 3 tsp of oil and fry sundakkai till it gets roasted well.
  • Transfer to a small mixer jar and allow it to cool.
  • In the same pan, add 1 tsp of oil and fry urad dhal, red chilly and asafoetida.
  • Transfer to a mixture jar, add tamarind paste, salt and coconut.
  • Add little water and grind the ingredients.
  • Serve with rice or any Indian bread.
