Ingredients

  • 300 g - Surakkai (bottle gourd)
  • 2 cups - Idle rice
  • 1/2 cup - Toor dal
  • 1/4 cup - Moong dal
  • 3-4 - Red chillies
  • 3-4 - Cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 tsp - Asafoetida
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • Salt
  • 2-3 - Onions
  • Curry leaves

How to Make Surakkai Rice Adai

  • Soak rice and dal for 2-3 hours.
  • Grate and grind the bottle gourd.
  • Add the soaked rice, dal, red chilli, salt, large cumin seeds, garlic and grind coarsely.
  • Season with mustard seeds, urad dal, asafoetida, curry leaves and onions.
  • This can be made into dosa-like adais. No fermentation is required.
  • Pour out a ladleful and spread out like dosas.
  • Serve with sambhar and chutney.
