Ingredients

  • ¼ fresh coconut, grated
  • ½ tsp. grated nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp. poppy seeds
  • 4 tbsp. sugar
  • 25 gms. raisins
  • 12-15 slices bread
  • Ghee for frying
  • 1 tsp. cardamom powder

How to Make Sweet Coconut Croquettes

  • To make filling: Heat 2 tbsp. ghee and fry the coconut till brownish red. Add sugar, poppy seeds and raisins and fry till sugar melts.
  • Take off the fire. Add cardamom and nutmeg. Soak bread slices in salted water for ½ minute, and press water out by squeezing between palms.
  • Fill with coconut mixture, fold over and seal up edges and fry in hot ghee till browned well on both sides. Drain and serve at once whilst hot.
