Ingredients

  • brown chick peas (chana) - 100 gm
  • sweet potatoes - 300 gm
  • oil - 3 tbsp
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • green chilies - 3, finely chopped
  • asafoetida - ½ tsp
  • curry leaves - few
  • jaggery - 2 tbsp, powdered
  • grated coconut - ½ cup
  • salt to taste

How to Make Sweet Potato and Brown Chickpeas Filling

  • Soak chana overnight in water.
  • Drain, add fresh water and cook till soft.
  • Cut sweet potatoes into big pieces, cook till soft.
  • Peel and mash lightly.
  • Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard.
  • When it splutters, add green chili, asafetida and curry leaves.
  • After few seconds, add chana with just 3-4 table spoons of cooking liquid.
  • Add Sweet potato, salt, jaggery and grated coconut.
  • Mix well, cover and leave on a low flame for 2-3 minutes.
  • Place some filling on chapatti or paratha, roll up and serve.
