  • 1.5 cups - all - purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 cup - sweet potato, cooked and mashed
  • 1/2 cup - whole moong dal, cooked and mashed
  • 3/4 cup - jaggery
  • 1/4 cup - grated coconut
  • 1 tsp - cardamom powder
  • Oil - as required
  • Salt - to taste
  • Flour for dusting

How to Make Sweet Potato and Whole Moong Dal Sweet Paratha

  • Knead into a smooth dough the all-purpose flour, turmeric powder and salt.
  • Keep aside for an hour.
  • Place the jaggery in a pan with quarter cup of water and bring it to a boil.
  • Strain this jaggery syrup and reheat along with mashed sweet potato, mashed moong dal, cardamom powder and grated coconut.
  • Cook on a medium flame until the mixture turns thick.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
  • Make medium sized balls with this filling and keep aside.
  • Make 10-12 medium sized balls from the dough and roll them out.
  • Place the filling in the centre of one rolled out paratha and wrap the dough over.
  • Roll it out again gently.
  • On a hot tava, roast the paratha on both sides with a few drops of oil.
  • Serve warm with a cup of coffee or tea.
