Ingredients

  • 4 oz. rice
  • 4 oz. sugar
  • 2 oz. butter
  • 2 cardamoms
  • 2 cloves
  • a few almonds
  • a few pistachio nuts
  • ½ lemon
  • 1 tsp. rose water

How to Make Sweet Rice

  • Boil the rice until half cooked. Make the sugar syrup by adding sugar in ½ pint water and boiling it till a thick syrup is formed.
  • Melt the butter and add the cloves and cardamoms. Stir for 5 minutes over low heat.
  • Stir in the rice, syrup, nuts and the juice of ½ a lemon. Add the rose water.
  • Cook till the rice is done and the mixture is quite thick.
  • Serve in individual serving bowls and serve chilled.
