Ingredients

  • 1 small-ball-sized tamarind
  • 6-7 khajoors (dried dates) deseeded & broken
  • 3 tbsp jaggery
  • 1tsp - finely chopped mint leaves
  • 1 tsp - finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/4 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seed powder
  • 3-4 pinches black salt
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp - crushed wood apple (optional)
  • 1 tbsp - onion finely chopped

How to Make Sweet sour Dip

  • Boil tamarind, jaggery and dates together with little water.
  • Cook till dates turn soft and cool.
  • Blend in a mixie till smooth.
  • Boil again till mixture coats back of spoon.
  • Cool in a large plate to room temperature.
  • Add all other ingredients. Mix well.
  • If desired, add 1 chopped green chilli to make it spicier.
  • Chill for an hour before serving.
  • Serve as a dip with veggie fingers, soup sticks, frankies, etc.
