Ingredients

  • 1 - brinjal (cut into small pieces)
  • 2 - tomatoes
  • oil
  • salt
  • Turmeric -1/2 tsp
  • Sambhar powder - 1 tsp
  • Ginger - a small piece
  • Moong dal - 1/2 cup, cooked
  • tamarind paste - mix it with 1.5 cups of water
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Bengal gram dal - 1 tsp
  • few sprigs - curry leaves

How to Make Tangy Brinjal gotshu

  • Cut the brinjal and tomatoes into fine pieces.
  • In a pan, put some oil and add mustard seeds to it.
  • When the seeds splutter, add Bengal gram dal to it.
  • When the dal turns golden brown in colour, add the curry leaves to it.
  • Add the tomatoes and brinjal pieces and fry it for about a minute.
  • Then add the tamarind water to this.
  • Add turmeric, ginger, salt and sambhar powder and allow it to boil for a few minutes.
  • When the brinjal and tomatoes are cooked, add the cooked dal to this.
